Dear Pina

Dear Pina, is a very large-scale dance/theatre tribute to internationally known choreographer, Pina Bausch who died unexpectedly in 2009. She was a force of innovation and inspiration in the dance world and had a significant influence in the career of Vermont choreographer, Hannah Dennison who is the mind behind this masterpiece. Dear Pina, will be performed by 33 dancers and one tall dignified couple, June of 2012 in the Breeding Barn at Shelburne Farms, Vermont, a fitting setting for the aspirations and celebrations of Dear Pina

Big Action Performance Ensemble (Big APE)

Big APE is an experimental performance group merging activism and dance making to create productions that are bold, poetic, and humorous. Established in 2008 by movement artist and filmmaker Tiffany Rhynard, the company incorporates vigorous dancing, interactive media and video, lively audience participation, and community engagement. Big APE launched their community based project Everyone Can Dance in the fall of 2010 in three Vermont communities. The initiative celebrates the contagious appeal of movement and the dynamic capabilities of the human body by inviting audiences to engage with dance as a thriving form of communication and expression. Their latest project Subverting Normal continues the dialogue questioning who "can" dance and thwarting traditional notions of normalcy. For more information about Big APE visit www.bigapedance.com.
